In knowing that
Canada has legitimized gay marriages, the Supreme
Court has overturned the Texas sodomy law, and
we're awaiting word of the confirmation of the
first gay Episcopalian Bishop to be announced
during their annual conference, someone asked me
the other day, "Are gays born
homosexual?" My immediate answer was a
resounding NO! Requiring Biblical support for my
answer proved necessary, which has brought about
this study and commentary: We must first understand in
what respect God created man and how he designed
the sexes to interact with one another:
"And
God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness..." (Genesis 1:26)
"Therefore
shall a man leave his father and his mother, and
shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one
flesh." (Genesis 2:24)
The Bible tells us
that God created man in His own likeness and
image; that man is to interact sexually with the
opposite sex of his species, as a husband and a
wife. But the homosexual community, and its'
supporters, suggest that the gay lifestyle is now
acceptable in the eyes of the Lord; that as
society has come to accept this lifestyle, so has
He. The Bible tells us, however, the Lord does
not change:
"For
I am the LORD, I change not..." (Malachi
3:6)
So how does God
view homosexuality:
"For
this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:
for even their women did change the natural use
into that which is against nature: And likewise
also the men, leaving the natural use of the
woman, burned in their lust one toward another;
men with men working that which is unseemly, and
receiving in themselves that recompense of their
error which was meet. And even as they did not
like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave
them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things
which are not convenient;" (Romans 1:26-28)
One must instantly
be aware in the above verses of the terms "natural
use"
and "vile affections". In the original Greek of
these Scriptures, the words for "vile
affections" are 'atimia pathos' which
means 'disgraceful lust'. And for "natural
use"
are the Greek words 'phusikos chresis'
which means 'physical employment', or
more specifically, 'sexual intercourse as an
occupation of the body'. So, by definition
in the original Greek of God's Word in the Bible,
a homosexual lifestyle is nothing more than a 'disgraceful
lust to achieve sexual intercourse'.
So, are
homosexuals born gay? No, not if we believe that
God created man in His image with a natural
affection for the opposite sex, and that God does
not change so therefore keeps His plan for
mankind intact at their birth. So why are some
people gay? Very simply the Bible tells us that
it is the spirit of Satan, that works in all
disobedient people:
"Wherein
in time past ye walked according to the course of
this world, according to the prince of the power
of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the
children of disobedience:" (Ephesians 2:2)
But all is not
lost for those of this lifestyle. Just as with
any other sinner, and we all are, if a homosexual
is willing to turn from their sin and call on the
Name of Jesus, they too, shall be saved:
"For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
"And
saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of
God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the
gospel." (Mark 1:15)
God the Father
sent Jesus to save us because He is not
intolerant of sinners, He is intolerant of sin.
If you are in a lifestyle you want to change, but
don't know how, simply call on the Name of Jesus
to save you. He will come into your heart and
life and make you a new person if you only ask
Him. Please visit our Salvation page for information on
how to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
