The fanatical
regime of Saddam Hussein literally toppled today
as a forty foot statue of him was sent crushing
to the ground in the center of Baghdad. The
citizens of that city showed as much respect for
Saddam's image as Saddam had shown to the Iraqi
people for over thirty years, by immediately
climbing aboard the twisted piece of iron, and
beating it with the soles of their shoes;
regarded in that part of the world as one of the
highest forms of contempt. The United States military
is accomplishing its' task of freeing the Iraqi
people in short order. In only three weeks have
they pierced the nations' border, driven their
forces several hundred miles north, and taken
control of every city and town they have entered,
including its' capital of Baghdad. Casualties and
loss of life of coalition forces have been kept
to a minimum, and nothing appears to be left
other than the 'mop up' of a few of Saddam's
dissidents, and assisting the Iraqi people in
initiating their new government. But why so
easily? As we stated in our previous commentary,
this was a righteous war of good against evil.
President Bush follows the Word of God, therefore
our military has God on its' side:
"For
he is the minister of God to thee for good. But
if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he
beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the
minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon
him that doeth evil." (Romans 13:4)
Saddam is only the
most current in a long line of tyrannical
dictators to lose power...but he will not be the
last:
"Little
children, it is the last time: and as ye have
heard that antichrist shall come, even now are
there many antichrists; whereby we know that it
is the last time." (1 John 2:18)
But, this one too,
the Antichrist, shall fall in defeat:
"And
the beast was taken, and with him the false
prophet that wrought miracles before him, with
which he deceived them that had received the mark
of the beast, and them that worshiped his image.
These both were cast alive into a lake of fire
burning with brimstone." (Revelation 19:20)
Many have tried to
rule the world, and all have failed. Others will
try, and they shall fail, because they do so
through the efforts of their own vanity, and by
their own lust for power:
"Because
that, when they knew God, they glorified him not
as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in
their imaginations, and their foolish heart was
darkened." (Romans 1:21)
There is only One
who's Kingdom will last forever. There is only
One who is righteous enough to have dominion over
all. There is only One who's glory shines above
all others. Jesus Christ the righteous:
"...For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen." (Matthew 6:13)
There is only One.
