"Therefore
take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or,
What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be
clothed? (For after all these things do the
Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth
that ye have need of all these things. But seek
ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you." (Matthew 6:31-33) Don't misunderstand,
today's conveniences of refrigeration and modern
food storage allow people to go several days, or
every few weeks between shopping trips. Even Nita
and I, between our pantry and freezer have a
couple of weeks of provisions stored in case
inclement weather or other emergency prohibits us
from shopping on our regular schedule. That's
simply being prudent. But in the Scriptures
above, the Bible speaks against hoarding
provisions, or 'prepping' for the End
Times. The only way you need to prep for the Last
Days is to be saved. The Bible says:
"Marvel
not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born
again." (John 3:7)
"Not
by works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to his mercy he saved us, by the
washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy
Ghost;" (Titus 3:5)
"And
they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and
thou shalt be saved..." (Acts 16:31)
There are many
websites on the Internet that are warning of hard
times coming for the Last Days. Just as prepping
food and clothing are spoken against, also are
hoarding other items. Some sites are suggesting
people to buy gold and silver due to an imminent
worldwide financial collapse. The Bible, however
also specifically advises against this:
"Your
gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them
shall be a witness against you, and shall eat
your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped
treasure together for the last days." (James
5:3)
Many of these
prepper websites are run by so-called 'Christians'
who couldn't care less about your salvation, and
are actually after nothing but your money. One in particular has already been proven to
be selling merchandise at greatly inflated
prices, almost twice the amount of similar
products available at other sites:

We have a warning
from God's Word about these 'brethren',
who are actually wolves in sheep's clothing:
"They
went out from us, but they were not of us; for if
they had been of us, they would no doubt have
continued with us: but they went out, that they
might be made manifest that they were not all of
us." (1 John 2:19)
Now if you're
thinking 'This is all well and good, but I
live in the real world, and I need real
resources.' Jesus is the ultimate provider
and really knows how to stretch a provision!
Remember, He fed several thousand people with
only five loaves of bread and two fish (Matthew
14:17-21),
and God caused a widow's containers to not run
out of flour and oil (1 Kings 17:16), to cite only two of many
such stories. Supernatural? Yes! Will He do it
for you? Absolutely! Like the Scriptures at the
top of the page says, the Bible guarantees!
"...seek
ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)
So, are you going
to trust what you can do to provide for yourself
and your family when times are hard by listening
to these so-called 'Christian preppers',
or will you trust what God can do? What this
subject is really about is this: If you trust the
Lord for your salvation, then trust Him for your
provisions. And if you don't know Him as your
Savior, get saved.
